What is TOEIC?

The TOEIC or Test of English for International Communication is the world’s number one reliable and valid instrument to motivate, test, and certify international business English communication ability. It is taken by over 5 million people per year and is the exam of choice for more then 8000 multinational companies.

What is the difference between TOEIC and TOEFL?

The purpose of the TOEFL is to serve as an entrance exam for North American and international universities. It’s purpose is not to test communication skills but to test whether a person should be let into an English speaking university. That is why the TOEFL is focussed on academic issues.

The purpose of the TOEIC is to determine a person’s ability to communicate in international business. That is why the TOEIC focuses on business related topics and why half the questions are listening comprehension questions.
